Can you imagine the problems finishing a project before its scheduled date would create for countless corporations? Just think, the defense contractors couldn't charge for over-runs...state highway departments couldn't charge for late finishes...libraries would have to find new sources of revenue since people would finish their books on time and never pay late fees.
