I've heard a bit about the Society for Creative Anachronism, which
sounds exactly like what you're talking about.  There are chapters
located all over the west coast, but I don't know anything about
anywhere else.  You might check related groups like traditional music
groups, music stores that specialize in folk music etc., as they tend
to know about such doings.

I've heard a bit about the Society for Creative Anachronism, and they sound
exactly what you're talking about.  There are chapters all over on the
west coast, but I don't know about anywhere else.  You might try local
colleges, traditional music groups, or music stores that specialize in
folk music, as they tend to know about such doings.  The SCA had an exhibit
at the last World Con  (L.A. Con II) of all kinds of costumes and goings
on etc., but I don't know how to get in touch with them directly.
