[] I was listening to "The World Tonight", a current-affairs program on BBC Radio Four, when I heard (I'm sure) a commentator describe the current nastiness in Lebanon as "a potentially-explosive vaccuum". Do WHAT? Kay. -- "News bug? WHAT news bug?" ... mcvax!ukc!flame!kay

Politics abhors a power vacuum. With Israel out of southern Lebanon (declare victory and get the hell out) no one really knows for sure who'll end up with the marbles. With all the militias armed to the teeth there and no resolution to basic differences, the fighting will go on.
