[net.lang.mod2] library standard

laura@amd70.UUCP (Laura Glenn) (12/20/83)

There is work on a standard library being done by the following
companies: Logitech, Diser, and Volition. Another such meeting is
scheduled for January sometime (the details are still being
decided); hopefully, these companies will all have representatives
there. Diser has a proposal out which has been discussed, and a
second proposal made in Switzerland will probably also be talked
about.
I am in the Modula-2 group at Logitech, and since we are not yet
on USENET, I have been given access at amd70, in the interests of
language development.
I would like to see a more general meeting with everyone who is
marketing a compiler (or planning to in the near future), so the
standard we finally establish is indeed industry-wide, and a good
one that we can all be proud to support. If you are willing to
put in time towards such a standard, and if you are interested in
such a meeting, please reply by mail. If I can convince the proper
parties to set this up, I will post the details to the net, if
the response warrants it (otherwise, check your mboxes).
If any of YOU are working on a standard through other channels,
I would like to hear about it. Thanks...
