Does anyone have any experience with the Cambridge Modula-2 compiler for the VAX under 4.2BSD ? If not, can you comment on any of the other compilers avail for 4BSD? We need a "real" compiler to support a LARGE programming project, i.e. 50-60K lines of code, so student-type compilers are not of interest. Thanks, Tom Perrine

We have used the Cambridge Modula 2 compiler for undergraduate teaching for the past 2 years. We started with the pre-release version and have now moved on to the current release. One the whole it is a poor compiler: - it is very slow - it has poor error messages - it has a non-standard library (however the good news is that you can build your own fairly easily) We have looked for another compiler without success. We hear that a university in Holland has modified the Cambridge compiler to overcome some of its problems but we don't have more details. Hope this is of some help Gordon Bull

I have a much better, newer version that you could probably get by
contacting Mick Jordan at Acorn Research Center in Palo Alto CA.
