[net.lang.mod2] Modula-2 standards?

hand@ncsu.UUCP (Steven Hand) (04/29/86)

Is there any movement to standardize Modula-2 through ANSI or other
organizations? I have heard of informal efforts to standardize various
modules, but is there anything beyond this?

Thank you.

Indeed, the latest issue of MODUS Quarterly, which should be in the
mail, has the ISO approval of the British Standards Institution bid
to become the standardizing body for Modula-2. They have been using
MODUS Quarterly as a vehicle for soliciting user comments about the
directions the standards committee is taking with the language.

It is possible to join the standards committee, if you have a real
committment to the language. For those who merely wish to keep
informed of the progress, copies of the working papers are available
from MAQS, 6521 Raymond St., Oakland, CA 94609 individually and by
subscription.
