[net.lang.mod2] Public Domain M2 Amiga compiler

ADAMAC@sperry-csd.CSNET ("Marc A. Criley") (06/30/86)

Has anyone heard anything about the quality of the public domain
Modula-2 compiler for the Amiga developed at ETH Zurich?

Has there been any posting of this compiler to the net?
If not, how would one go about obtaining a copy?
I would be willing to pay for reasonable copying/shipping/media charges
if the sources and/or executable are not available through other easily
accessed channels. (1/2" tar tape for vax-unix to transfer to amiga, or
3.5" floppy for the amiga) I could also supply the media of choice.

reply here, in net.micro.amiga, or send response through email or snailmail.

1.) Yes there were postings on the net, announcing this PD M2 Compiler
for the Amiga. This compiler is available on Fish Disk # 24.
It is also available directly from us for $15, we distribute binary
only because we are not allowed to distribute the source!

2.) About the quality:
Note, this is a pre-release of the Modula-2 Compiler used for MacMETH
for the Mac. We transmitted the code to the Amiga and it is executed
on the Amiga using a special loader.

Meanwhile we are developing an integrated Modula-2 System for the
Amiga. The current version of the Compiler, alpha tests are coming
soon, works much better than the PD version, also the run-time
system is much better. Range errors and other Traps don't lead to
    Gurus anymore.

The system will be release at the end of this year and will include
    all necessairy interfaces, a source-code debugger, a linker ....

Use the PD Version for some small things or just to see how fast this
    Modula-2 Compiler works.
