The next two mailings from me to info-modula-2 contain two articles. One is called "Significant Changes to the Language Modula-2" and the other is called "All About Strings". Both articles represent the position of the British Standards Institution's Working Group on Modula-2 (M2WG). And, both were submitted to "MODUS Quarterly" on 30th April 1986 and are due to appear in MQ#6. Unfortunately, MQ#6 has not yet appeared. It was hoped that by submitting these articles to MQ, we would have some feedback from the Modula-2 community on the proposals. Unfortunately, because of the non-appearance of MQ#6, we haven't had any feedback yet. Please would you send any comments on these proposals to me as soon as possible. One of the articles uses the terms "exception" and "ordinal type". "Exception" has roughly the same meaning as "error" has in the Pascal Standard: if a program causes an exception then a run-time error has occurred which may or may not be detected by a conforming processor. "Ordinal type" means the same as it does in the Pascal Standard. == Barry Cornelius == Address: Department of Computer Science, University of Durham, Durham, DH1 3LE, England Telephone: Durham (0385 or +44 385) 64971 extension 792 Electronic Mail Addresses: Barry_Cornelius@uk.ac.durham.mts Barry_Cornelius%mts.durham.ac.uk@UCL-CS.ARPA bjc@uk.ac.nott.cs bjc%cs.nott.ac.uk@UCL-CS.ARPA
