[net.lang.mod2] Administrivia

ken@ROCHESTER.ARPA (Ipse dixit) (03/19/86)

Progress report:

Net folk, thanks for keeping a lively discussion going in this mailing
list. It now spans Arpanet, Usenet, Bitnet and many local networks.
Not to mention local redistribution lists.

Just a reminder: we are gatewayed bidirectionally to Usenet. Please
consider your postings in this light. Some networks we use forbid
messages of any commercial nature. Also remember to use the
appropriate address.

info-modula-2-request	Requests for addition or deletion and other
			administrative matters

info-modula-2 Items of general interest

If you post something and get return mail indicating some machines
could not be contacted please bear with this - it is an unfortunate
artifact of the way mail reflectors work. I get a copy of every piece
of failed mail and will investigate continued problems.

We are still working on getting the source repository up. More news
as it happens. Back to the discussion. Thanks.

Sorry for the recent duplicate messages. They have been traced to
a rogue site and that address has been temporarily disabled.

Remember, if you move or your account is due to expire, please notify
me. It's not nice to have the sys admin of the site clean up after you.
Thanks.

Well, two missent request messages in a day exceeded my tolerance
threshold. :-).

Just a gentle reminder to people desiring to subscribe: send requests
to the info-modula-2-request address. Do not send to the info-modula-2
address, or to the Usenet newsgroup net.lang.mod2. Messages to this
list get forwarded to many sites and bulletin boards. The wrong
destination will waste many peoples time. Old hands, if you see such a
message, be tolerant. It is easy enough to err thus. (A poor naming
scheme, the -request thing, if you ask me.) I have made such a mistake
myself.

And while on this soapbox, we seem to lack interesting messages these
days. We have subscribers ranging from neophytes to people on
committees but there are some things I feel would interest many:

. Reviews of journals. Anybody have opinions on the Journal of Pascal
and M2, for example?

. Source code, if not too large, you could just post. If large you
could announce. We have a Bitnet archive, but we are still looking for
an Arpa archive coordinator.

. Bug reports.

. Standards proposals and comments thereon.

. News and announcements of upcoming conferences and events.

Hey, lets see more stuff on this list!

Ok, sorry for the interruption. Thanks for your attention.
