****************** I have a minor problem with an oak floor. Several years ago I refinished the floors using Glitsa Bacca Swedish Finish. The area around the dining table has the finish worn away by the sliding of chairs. The problem is dirt that has worked into the open pores of the oak flooring. Does anyone have suggestions for getting the dirt out? I am only interested in touching up the spots that are worn because the house is up for sale and I cannot afford the time or money for a complete refinish, but I don't want to seal in the dirt. There is a lesson to be learned. Chairs that sit on wood floors and are slid around (dining chairs) should have hard metal feet. The nylon feet get little bits of hard grit imbedded in them and they serve as an excellent abrasive. A machinist will tell you if you rub a hard material and soft material together with abrasive grit between them the hard material is the one that wears (process called lapping), the grit imbeds in the soft material and cut the hard. Chair feet and floors are a similar situation.
