[net.rec.wood] Woodworking Bench

Sears is having a sale on their Woodworking Bench from now to
Nov. 17. In the National Hardware (NH) catalog the woodworking
bench is cut $130 to $300! I bought one a few months ago at $430 and
am pleased with it. At $300, it's a bargin! It's bigger than the
comparable foreign benches at the $430 price. It uses dowels and
a cross piece for surface clamping rather than steel pegs that the
foreign benches use. I've made up a set of alternate function dowels
(with tighter fit and different lengths) and have had good results.

Speaking of workbenches, anyone ever see one of the benches
from (I think) Arkansas Hardwood as advertised in Fine Woodworking for $97?
(But not in this months issue, the only one I have to hand)

It comes with no vice, but still sounds too good to be true.
