In his highly entertaining classic THE FURNITURE DOCTOR, George Grotz recommends a saturate solution of oxalic acid crystals (obtainable from a paint store or drugstore) for removal of black water stains. Refer to the book for details because there are some importants caveats (such as the fact that oxalic acid can be quite irritating if inhaled).
