[net.rec.wood] Spraying Contact Cement?

mike@amdcad.UUCP (Mike Parker) (03/12/85)

Has anyone ever tried to spray contact cement? I'm really tired of
brush strokes telegeaphing through my veneer and am considering
trying to psray the stuff with a "wagner" or similar airless
sprayer.

Try using a fine or medium napped paint roller.
They give much more uniform results than a brush.
I have never tried spraying contact cement, but I
suspect that it is too gooey to spray, or would
not be effective if thinned enough to spray.

Have you tried using "spray-mount"? If you don't need a strong bond,
it might be just the thing. Spray-mount is used by graphics artists
for glueing cardboard models and paper layouts; any good arts supply
store should carry this stuff.
