I had a conversation recently with an 86 year old lady who has spent her entire life farming with her husband & family. When she was young, the land of her area was not highly developed. Her comment was that she has never seen so many trees blown over or broken by the wind as she has in recent years. Shortly afterwards I was talking to another friend of mine who is a biologist. She says the phenomenon is probably quite real and is due to acid rain making the trees weaker and/or more brittle. Has anyone out there seen or heard anything more concrete on this effect? I am a strong believer in reducing pollution. Cheers, Fred Williams
