I don't have much trouble with rusting machines in my garage, but I don't have any machinery that I care that much about at this point. I wipe my saw and hand tools with an oily rag once or twice a year, and it seems to keep the rust in check. I do have to go over the saw table with steel wool every once in a while, but that's more due to spilled glue and other sloppiness than due to rust. The trouble I do have is how to keep my wood from falling appart on me under arctic conditions. I do work in the winter, and do all of the shaping and sanding in the garage but retreat to the house for gluing and finishing. Unfortunately, under are normal arctic winters, my neatly cut and sanded pieces have a tendance to warp, split, or check before I can get them together and sealed. (Sometimes even after they have been assembled). I can't raise the humidity in the house much, and I can't keep the wood inside. Any thoughts on how to cope?
