[net.rec.wood] Staining and Finishing

[[[[<<<<=>>>>]]]]

	I have recently become interested in woodwork and started making
furniture for myself and friends. So far, I have been staining (Miniwax)
and using polyurethane as a varnish which works nice, but I would like to
try something else. I have heard about using other materials such as resin
varnish, linseed and other oil mixtures,etc. and would appreciate hearing
about your opinions on what to use for staining and finishing, advantages
and disadvantages of each method, your own favorite (homemade or commercial)
stuff and mixtures of stuff for finishing and staining and waxing, etc.

	Please send your replies by E-mail and if I get a lot of replies,
I'll summarize and post.

	(If this topic was already discussed, could someone please send
me the articles? I'm new around here! )
