You bring up a good point.  The only way of finding a good tool is not by
price, but by experience.  Thus if you find an old tool that is still in
very good shape, you know that it has to be good.  Most of my tools are
pre WWII and are better than tools that you can buy new today.  I bought
them at auctions and second hand stores. The are all heirlooms so to speak.
You should see the tools that came with my Ford-Ferguson tractor (1941).
