Has anyone out there run netnews with the SPOOL directory someone other than /usr/spool/news? My /usr directory spends much of its time rather full, so I spend a fair amount of time pruning news right now. I was thinking about moving it into another filesystem with a lot more space. Has anyone tried this? Are there any problems? help?

We took the easy approach to gaining more space. We made /usr/spool a separate file system under /usr. When we first installed news 2.10, we had the news being stored in /news and there was no problem with that either. -- Dave Brierley Raytheon Co.; Portsmouth RI; (401)-847-8000 x4073 ...!decvax!brunix!rayssd!dhb ...!allegra!rayssd!dhb ...!linus!rayssd!dhb

Though we are young to the game, we tried to get 'news' off the 'users' filesystems. We mounted an RK07 as /usr/spool/news. (Our daily disk backup was shortened remarkably.) One small difficulty, though... We've been having some disk controller trouble, and guess what got eaten the very morning the disks were to be fully serviced?
