[net.motss] Alan Turing as a departure for rambling self-consciously

debenedi@yale-com.UUCP (Robert DeBenedictis) (11/01/83)

Recently someone referred to Alan Turing, posting:
It seems that he was gay. He was, in fact, prosecuted for his
"perversion", and chose what is described in the article as
"chemical castration" over serving time in prison.

Please, more details. What is "chemical castration"? [I really don't
know (nor do my friends).] Also, why would he have had to serve time
in prison; what exactly where the charges?

P.S. Are there any good books around which have quick concise counter-
arguments for "all-the-old" homosexuality is illegal, immoral,
      counter-biological, counter-evolutionary, unhealthy, symptiomatic
of rebellion towards the culture, indicative of thinking of one's
mother is the only one worthy of "the sex act," unnatural, and
      "just-plain-not-welcome" arguments?

P.P.S Re-reading the above I realize that it could be read as sarcastic.
That is not the case. I have a tendency to be disarmingly sincere
and abrupt. ("You're to kind" says my internal peanut gallery.)

P.P.P.S. Isn't the whole concept of postscripts in electronic mail silly.
