I heard of a similar case - the complaint was, naturally enough, that "the father would make the son gay" - (I won't go into why I think that's silly and nasty, I'm not bearbaiting today.) However, the man did win the case and got to adopt the child. Also, I know a lesbian couple with two children, one who was adopted and one who one of the woman bore through some sort of arrangement with a male friend of hers. Artificial insemination becoming increasingly more available (and anonymously, yet) it is becoming far easier for a gay woman to bear a child. Unfortunately since most states still strongly condemn homosexual parents a gay man who wishes to adopt may find a pile of barriers in his path, legal and emotional. Especially difficult is the plight of the once-married, now-out-of-the-closet gay man who wishes to have custody (or even partial custody) of his children. I've never heard of custody being granted in such a case. arwen
