Subj: My first submission to net.motss Hello. I see that the discussion in net.motss has fallen off in recent weeks. I would like to help remedy that situation. For my first submission, I would like to open or perhaps re-open the discussion about anonymity on net.motss. I have been reading net.motss since it first came out. I have waited until now to submit because I wanted to submit anonymously. I wanted anonymity because several places I have interview at for jobs receive netnews, and I decided that I wanted them to meet me without preconceived notions about someone who regularly submits to "That gay newsgroup." There was recently some discussion on a gay bullettin board I dial in to about anonymity for gay discussion on computers. The concensus there was that a bullettin board computer represented a small community that people felt more comfortable giving out their real names to than something like net.motss, where large numbers of possibly unsympathetic people could see their submissions. Do the people already submitting to net.motss think that more effort should be made to help people submit anonymously. I found the modifications to news of dubious utility because the machine I use for news is not sufficiently under my control for me to make the changes, and those that might make them don't want to know that I am submitting to "that gay newsgroup". Well, enough for now. I will soon be beginning a contest with debenedi at yale-comix to find out who can submit more things to net.motss. Until then, take care, "Felix" -- /Steve Dyer decvax!bbncca!sdyer sdyer@bbncca
