I just saw, on the news, a news article about the Salvation Army not hiring homosexuals because they think that homosexuals have ideas contrary to their christian beliefs. Aside from this being discrimination, it isn't true. Homosexuals are allowed to believe whatever they like. Being gay doesn't mean that a person has to believe in god, or has to be an atheist. I think the Salvation Army should at least apologize to the gay community at large for making this assumption. I don't wish to bring up the argument of whether being gay is right or wrong, so any of these articles can be directed to /dev/null. --johnc ...( decvax, cornell, linus )!dartvax!johnc

The way you phrased the quote seems to indicate that the Salvation Army stated that a practising gay person's "beliefs" (vis-a-vis homosexuality) are incompatible with their teachings. No surprises there. And no insult greater than those offered for 500 years by most other Christian sects and Jewish communities of worship. The Salvation Army "apologize"? Sure. Right. Uh-huh. -- /Steve Dyer {decvax, linus, ima}!bbncca!sdyer sdyer@bbncca.ARPA
