#N:fortune:33700004:000:1709 fortune!millines Jun 11 08:56:00 1984 This weekend (saturday) I attended the 4th Annual Dog Show and Parade in San Francisco. For those of you who never heard of it, its one of the many events scheduled yearly for Gay Day - Acually Gay Month!!! It seems that in San Francisco, and probably other places, Gay Day usually prompts people to schedule events for the whole month of June - which is great. Anyway, I would like to share my first appearance at the annual dog show. There were at least 5,000 people there on Castro street - mostly men of course. Besides having dogs, there were music, TV and theatre personalities there. Lee Meriwether (sp?) was among the theatre crowd, she is starring in "Last Summer at Blue Fish Cove". Sylvester was there, and his dog won the celebrity award. Aunt Ester from "Sanford and Son" was there too, she is appearing at "The Woods" at Russian River. There were a couple of new artists that I never heard of, but they sure were good - They've been working with Sylvester, so they have no choice but to be good. Some of the categories were: Best smile, best trick, best groomed, best presentation, best match to owner, best legs, best buns, and best all around. There was a dog entered in the Dog Hall of Fame. The judging was pretty fair, and I think everyone was pleased with the outcome. All in all, the day was full of entertainment and loads of fun. It started at 12:00 noon and ended around 4:00. Then there was dancing in the streets til 6:00pm! For those of you who may get the chance to come to San Francisco next year for Gay Month, I suggest you attend the Dog Show. You'll have the time of your life!!!! Trish Millines (ihnp4!fortune!millines)
