[net.motss] Dethroning of Miss America, and other social ills...

How typical of our puritan society.

Presumably, these silly 'pagents' are held so that someone can be
picked that represents the ideal of that particular type, someone that all
others can strive to be like.

Yet, let them deviate even slightly from the narrow-minded idiocy
of the 'moral majority' fools and BAM! Into the outcast bin!

	How stupid.

Always recall that our society was founded by puritans, who moved
here to escape religious and moral persecution, and then did the same d*mn
thing to everyone who wasn't THEIR religion and didn't have THEIR moral
values (ask any American Indian!)

Oh well, it's all perspective, right?

I think she was hip to the whole thing.
Vanessa, I mean.
After all, if she is going to try and make it in theater,
she had better get rid of that goody-two-shoes image of miss america.
What better way to do it than pose with another woman in penthouse?
Could have been worse - what about Hustler?
Penthouse has a preppy appeal (as far as those rags go),
so it was a logical choice.
And, from a strictly madison avenue way of thinking,
pictures of her with another woman
is just not as ``dirty'' as seeing her with a man -
i.e. she still didn't lose her ``virginity'' on some psychological level.
Also, for more straight weirdness, straights seem to get
less freaked out by lesbians than by gay men.
But then, I just keep wondering what the photos were for -
she said that she didn't expect them to be published.
Just makes me wonder...
