[net.motss] Ken Arndt

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I don't think we should ignore Ken Arndt's flames meremly
because of their flame content. Ken makes some valid points (I believe)
which I also would like to see answered or addressed in some constructive
way.

Everyone has freedom of speech, but some of us don't like listening
to it.

Cheers,

It is unfortunate that Ken choses to make fun of gays the way he does.
I would not throw hostility at him for doing so, however, which is
what I find other people on this newsgroup doing. He asks us to explain
and justify gay behavior (that should be capitalized, in quotes, and underlined)
and tells us he thinks it is wrong to be gay based on that behavior.

Ken, here are some facts:

There is such a thing as immature gay behavior. There is such a
thing as immature straight behavior. As long as there is immaturity
in the world, there will be immature behavior. I consider sex in
the Fens to be immature behavior on the part of gays. That doesn't make
BEING GAY wrong. Too often, people like to personify behavior, after
all, if one observes you, that's all he can see. Ken, do you believe
that I am my behavior and that my total worth as a human being can be expressed
in how well I conform to your standards of proper behavior? That's called
measuring the world by your standards.

I am also a person. I have feelings, I like things, I dislike
things, I get hurt by rejection, I feel affectionate (although towards
ALL people -- that makes me bisexual), and I believe in god (for whatever
that's worth). Somehow, Ken, you seem to forget that people are first
and foremost people.

Ken has a habit of rejecting first hand things he doesn't
understand. I don't consider this wrong. I think it is bad on the
part of gays to take offense to this behavior. Ken is asking real
questions because he has real confusion and he expresses this confusion
in the onlly way he knows how.

I choose not to say his behavior is wrong. I don't think
he means anything personally directed at gays. He is behaving thew
way he behaves and that is that. If Gays direct hostility at him, they
are merely emphasizing the separatism that Ken believes (I think)
gays want. After all, "Gays are a minority and should be protected from
hostile straights".

"There is only one truth. There are just so many interpretations of it."
