[net.motss] Re. Gay Pol/Soc groups in LA

arndt@lymph.DEC (10/04/84)

Whatever happened to:
                         Gay Students Union
                         Student Union No.301
                         Univ. of Southern Calif.
                         University Park
                         Los Angeles, Ca. 90007 ????

As far as gay Republican clubs, there are quite a few (confussed??!):

Lincoln Republican Club of Southern California
Box 3719
Los Angeles, CA. 90028
213-275-2357

Concerned Republicans for Individual Rights
PO Box 14174
San Francisco, CA. 94114
415-626-1443

Teddy Roosevelt Republican Club
c/o Rev. Ray Broshears
990 Geary St. Suite 403
San Francisco, CA. 94109
415-673-8184

Elsewhere around the country:

Walt Whitman Republican Club
P.O. Box 50295
Washington, D.C.
703-528-2168
202-966-8873

Republican Alternative Committee
Box 91
Austin, TX. 78767
512-472-2020

New Era Young Republican Club
c/o Box 251 Cooper Station
New York, NY 10003
212-475-5137

And there are others. I grant you there may be more Democratic than Republican
Clubs.

--------------------------------------

Just for grins, don't say I never gave you anything, here's a group those on
motss might like to look up:

Lesbian & Gay Associated Engineers and Scientists
              P.O. Box 70133
              Sunnyvale, CA. 94086

My thanks to dgreen, et al, for proving that you CAN carry on Gay Talk on motss
even though it's a public forum, and . . horrors . . not everyone agrees with
each other.

Regards,

Ken Arndt

Thanks Ken (I never thought I would say this) for the good list of Republican
Gay groups in California. Where on earth do you find all these sources on gay
life? Yes, I think Republican gays are confused ... well, at least the
not-well-off ones are.

To add to Ken's and my compiled lists, I would also mention the Los Angeles Gay
and Lesbian Scientists organization (LAGALS). They have monthly potluck
dinners, and sponsored a forum at UCLA on Security Clearances for Gays. Rumor
has it that they are pretty big, but I've never been to a meeting.
