Hold on. Don't get down on Howard. I've seen him on the "David Letterman
Show" and found him to be quite a fun guy (though many people seem to
dislike him). I quite enjoy radio personalities who make fun of everything
even if they get slightly offensive at times (or, in Howard's case, all the
time). I wish they would syndicate his show so that I could hear it here
in Pittsburgh.

(Nothing personal against the original poster; it's just that I like listening
to two people really go at it on a talk show!)

I agree - he was one of the best things to happen to am drive time
radio in DC. Too bad the bums at WWDC kicked him out.

Of course, he got suspended N times before he left DC for doing some
fairly outrageous (funny to a sicko like me) things, like calling the
Air Florida reservations number, asking them if he could put them on
the air (this was right after their 14th St Bridge crash (winter '82-83?))
and then asking them what the fare to the 14th St Bridge was...

You have to take what Stearn's says with a grain of salt the size of the
Titanic. He's just opinionating his little heart away just to get a rise out
of his listeners. Some of his stuff is absolutely hilarious, some totally
obnoxious. But if you remember Jack E. Leonard and early Don Rickles they did
the same kind of offensive routines and made big bucks beginning in the late
50's. Howard is making big bucks in the early 80's.

Before NY, Howard Stern was here in D.C. on the morning show. Upon
first listening to his show, I was appalled at some of his antics, but
after a time, I realized that all's fair on the airwaves - with some
limitations. I grew to enjoy listening to Howard once I realized he was
trying to stir things up - which he did well.
The interesting thing is, Howard left DC101 here, because he
broke one of the few rules imposed on him by the station, he talked
*REAL* bad about the DJs on another local station.

You guys are the proud owners of someone we here in DC got rid of (sent
him back to the 4th dimension (aka NYC)). I remember just after the
Air Florida 737 crashed into the 14th St. bridge here, How-weird called
Air Florida Reservations at National Airport (live, on the air), and
asked about the price of a one-way ticket to the 14th St. bridge.
There's nothing wrong with comedy, but when it comes at the expense of
others, and is as poor taste as his Air Florida call was, you guys can
have him!!!!

Better Howard Stern than this person that calls himself "Greaseman."
I loved the way he would get on ANYONE's case.

Howard also gave us many a tasteless flight 737 joke, such as:

Stewardess on flight 737 says "I have some good news and some bad
news. Bad news is, we've run out of ice for your drinks. Good news
is, we'll be stopping off for it on the way."

You never mentioned who replaced him on WWDC (DC101).... The Greaseman,
aka Doug Tracht, a character in his own right.
