Ah Robert D. You've come a long way baby. From huggs and squeezes. To baiting straights and up front with your urges. Good luck. I rather look at it that 90% is an awful lot. And don't believe all you hear about 10% being gay. Here's some interesting reading from, THE GOOD NEWS IS THE BAD NEWS IS WRONG, by Ben Wattenberg, '84, p.296-7. He's talking about the supposed change in moral values the right is moaning about. He doesn't see it. "Consider Homosexuality. Lots of publicity, but apparently no change in behavior. There has been much talk about high school sex-education classes that discuss homosexuality as an 'alternate life-style.' We have seen much on television news about homosexual marriage. Conservatives have gone into orbit about the legitimization and glorification of homosexuality in the popular culture: music, movies, the dance, television, and so on. But the latest studies indicate that, depending on the definitions used, about 5-10% of the adult population are practicing homosexuals. That is roughly the same incidence reported by Kinsey in the early 1950s. Nor has there been an attitudinal change. While all the homosexual hoopla was going on, the National Opinion Research Center was in the field, asking whether 'Sexual relations between two adults of the same sex . . . is always wrong, almost always wrong, wrong only sometimes or not wrong at all.' In the 1973 poll 80% of the population chose wrong/almost always wrong. In 1982, the percentage was 78%, well within the margin of sampling error. As with other data concerning sexual attitudes, there are no solid time lines available for earlier eras. But negative opinion at around 80% is high indeed, and could not have come down too much in any event." His conclusion! "Continuity. Core values and traditional behavior withstood a media wave." How about that. The Democrats just learned that lesson. I'm interested in what the Congress -: in Haaavard has to say. If you're counting on your cousins I don't think you're going to make it. What you and your fellow travellers like Ken 'love EVERYBODY' Perlow seem to miss is that homosexuals are NOT seen as just folks. Who are being discriminated against and need our support because they are human like us. Sure they're human. But wake up pea brain, they're seen as sinners. Malofactors. Unnice. Not to mention a threat. Your saying they're human brings laughs. Not because they don't believe it, but because it misses the point. (A part of humor) Like their saying you are sinners. See! (Haven't used that one in a while.) Keep chargin' Ken Arndt

See! (Haven't used that one in a while.) But what IS the point? It is probably true that upwards of 70% of the population feel homosexuality is wrong. What should I do with that data? It is not useful to anyone that gays and straights fling insults at each other ("You're values are wrong!" vs "You're a sinner and will fry in hell!") so *I* want to know where you're coming from. Not to mention a threat. Yes, that may be true, but that don't make it right. The whole point is to change attitudes, and it may take time. After all, there was a time where explicitly segregated public facilities were considered OK; now, at least, WHITES ONLY signs are considered "unnice". Guy Harris {seismo,ihnp4,allegra}!rlgvax!guy
