Has anyone had experience as a gay male or lesbian parent or step parent that they would like to share? In particular how do you talk to children about what it means to be gay? (Not coming out to them, they know already.) I'm trying to deal with a homophobic 16 year old and a 7 year old. Are there any good books on the subject for us or for the 16 year old? How do you act when their friends come over? Especially when you don't know so aren't out to their friends parents. My heterosexual parents kissed and hugged in front of me and my friends and that was fine. I have a feeling that wouldn't work the same way with our fundamentalist Baptist neighbors.
