I currently live in an apartment which is infested with roaches, and in a
few weeks will be moving to a new place. The manager of the new complex
tells us that they're pretty much roach-free due to regular extermination
and a little effort from the residents, and in order to maintain that
status, she suggests that we take measures to avoid carrying any with us when
we pack up our stuff from the old complex. Well, we can handle this problem
with most of our stuff, but how do you deroachify your telephone, TV, and
PC? We frequently see the little buggers crawling in and out of these
appliances; we've opened up our telephone and cleaned it out before, but I'd
rather not try this on our TV and computer. Does anyone have any suggestions?
(The best suggestion we've had has been to use a few foggers in our apartment
the day before we start packing.)
Please respond by mail. I'll post summaries if requested. Thanks.

Oh, ick! Cockroaches in the computer! What an awful place Texas must
be.

In western Oregon we are blessedly free of cockroaches. We have slugs
instead. When a slug goes crawling through your PC, it's slow, and
leaves a slime track so you can tell where to find it. Just run 117VAC
through its little body then sweep away the carcass.

The big "banana" slugs, which grow up to a foot long, are a culinary
delight. Sprinkle with lemon juice and herbs, wrap in aluminum foil,
and bake at 350 degrees for half an hour. Rumored to be an
aphrodisiac.
