According to next week's TV Guide, the television movie
"An Early Frost" will air next Monday evening the 11th on NBC.
This is the first TV-movie to dramatize the plight of a
homosexual man(a young lawyer,Michael, played by Aidan Quinn)
stricken with AIDS. And it does so with intelligence and guts,
says TV Guide. Most of the movie focuses on the reaction of the
victim's parents, who didn't know he's gay, and on his own
psychological trauma.
The article also made reference to a 1972 film, "That
Certain Summer", starring Hal Holbrook and Martin Sheen. This
was called TV's first frank and compassionate treatment of
homosexuality. I have never heard of this movie before. Has
anyone out there heard of it or seen it ? How frank of a movie
was it for 1972 ?
"An Early Frost" follows Dick and Ed in "TV's Bloopers &
Pratical Jokes." I only mention this because their scheduled
segments include bloopers from Showtime's comedy series
"Brothers." Coincidence ??????
Following the local news, a NBC News Special will examine
the facts and myths about AIDS and discuss that evening's movie,
"An Early Frost."
That's it for NBC's Monday evening lineup, busy night,
HUH ?!
