[net.motss] That Certain Summer

Was a TV movie which took place in Sausalito, California. One of two
men living together was a divorcee with a tennage son. It was a very
sensitive production. The gayness of the couple was a central theme
of the movie yet there wasn't any preaching etc. Was more of a "this
is the way it is" sort of presentation. As I remember, there wasn`t
any particular resolution to the problem presented by the son's problem
with his father's homosexuality. It wasn't a happy ending -- we all
have understanding and can go to the beach together now-- nor was it a
depressing ending without hope. You were left with the feeling that
it was a rough road ahead for everyone. The couple were Hollywood
stereotypes of the gay couple - white, upper middle class, professionals
with an artsy/craftsy home in California. At least they didn't make
one of them obviously effeminate and the other macho man. They were
two 'regular' guys just like some of your best friends (right?).. and
that was the major strength of the story as I saw it.
