From Gay Community News, Feb. 8, 1986... "The only thing the gays said was that they would be jobless -- the couturiers, et cetera, the hairdressers and all of that [if Corazon Aquino beats Ferdinand Marcos for presedent of the Phillippines].... And the gays said, 'You know, we gays, we are men become women because of our reach for beauty. You know us. We love beauty, and without love -- and they say hate, and we love God and we don't like Communists.'" -- Imelda Marcos, wife of President Marcos, still arguing that her husband will win the "gay vote" in upcoming elections for the presidency. Mrs. Marcos said dressmakers and hairdressers told her they were afraid that they would lose their jobs under a "less flamboyant administration," according to the New York Times. -- Steve Dyer dyer@harvard.HARVARD.EDU {bbncca, bbnccv, harvard}!spdcc!dyer
