How does one get to read info posted to the 'control' and 'junk' directories, besides having to do it manually ?? Does one have to be the administrative login for news ?? Thanks in advance, Bob Esposito...sb6!bpa!espo

You may, of course, read the 'control' and 'junk' newsgroups manually
using readnews with the -n option. You may also add them to your
subscription list in your .newsrc file. You do not have to be an
administrative login to do this.

control, junk, and test are three newsgroups that it's assumed almost nobody really wants to read. There is code in readnews and checknews to turn them off unless you explicitly ask for them. Thus, subscribing to "all" does not get you these three newsgroups, but subscribing to "all, control, junk, test" does. Mark
