I used /bin/ed to edit our (decvax) sys file in /usr/lib/news. Compugraphic has a rather large line (about 400 char's). Ed, with no warning, deleted that and all following lines. Watch out. (Compugraphic doesn't like to get a lot of stuff...) The following systems missed one day of news (11/3): cg-d, utzoo, unh, linus, tektronix, dartvax, vortex, and sultan. Sorry for the inconvenience. Armando.

We run 2.10.1 here at AT&T-ISL in Denver. I noticed that if a line in my sys file was too long inews would abort. I got around this by splitting the line for a system in half. Each half was in the same format as if the line had been shorter, i.e., systemname:groups:flags:command|filename. This, however, wouldn't work for the current system as inews evidently reads only the first line and uses it for the current system. -- Darrell McIntosh, AT&T Information Systems Laboratories, Denver (303) 538-3212, {ihnp4|hogpc}!drux3!darrell

We have been running news 2.10.1 for some time with the sys file mention this morning with no problems. In a previous version, (I think it was 2.8 or 2.9) the news broke and it was fixed by a local patch (suggested by research!alb). aps.
