The install document that comes with the news 2.10.1 distribution suggest that you use the L option in your sys file to send all locally generated articles to some backbone site(s?) in order to assure the best possible chance of your stuff reaching the net as a whole, instead of just your little corner of it. This sound like a fine idea, but it leaves me wondering. Does the fact that a site has agreed to be a backbone site mean that it automatically has given permission for any tom, dick and harry to send them their locally generated news? Or does etiquette require the news administrator at my site to get permission from the news administrator at the backbone site first? While I'm at it, what are the current backbone sites? I will summarize any answers I get to the net, so please reply by mail if possible. I particularly would like to hear from any news administrators at any backbone sites who are willing to accept a half dozen or so articles a week from us.
