You mean you actually still read net.general? I thought everyone gave up on it long ago! The more recent notes versions (>= 1.6) have provision for things like the net.general/net.followup stuff; we're in the process of integrating that here. I think we may have a problem here, folks. The other day, I saw a message in net.general with the wonderful 'Re:' in it. Being the nice, evenheaded person I am, I wrote a nice, evenheaded message (really, it was!) to the sender reminding him that followups to net.general belong in net.followup, and he shouldn't override the software on that. He wrote a nice letter back telling me to leave him alone and talk to the real culprit, the notes software. Sure enough, I looked again, and his message was a notes message (you can tell from all of those wonderful non-standard header lines that look similar to line noise). Well, golly me, there are two more of those wonders in net.general this morning. What is going on here? I can understand notes not complying to the header formats and making my life miserable with Orphaned responses and (-nf) and no References: and things, but if it is going to start dumping replies back into net.general, that software (and the net in general) have a real problem here. I don't know offhand if this is a problem limited to a single site or what, but it needs looking into. chuq (sweet, nice, and even headed as always....) -- From the house at Pooh Corner: Chuq 'Nuke Wobegon' Von Rospach {fortune,menlo70}!nsc!chuqui Have you hugged your Pooh today?
