At least at our installation, if a user's .newsrc file specifies that he/she has read even ONE article in a given newsgroup, then the next time vnews is invoked, that newsgroup is SKIPPED, instead of going to the first unread article in said newsgroup. This can be overcome by specifying "vnews -n net.xxx" on the command line, EXCEPT if the is a sub-specialty in the given newsgroup. For example, if I have read one article in net.news, then when I next call vnews, it will skip to the next newsgroup to which I subscribe. If I specify "vnews -n net.news" it will automatically give me net.news.adm, even if I do not subscribe to it. Does this happen anywhere else?? Does anyone have a fix for this bug?? We are experiencing similarly strange behavior in our vnews (2.10.2). Any solutions will be greatly appreciated. -- Daniel T. Senie TEL.: (617) 329-7700 x3168 Cullinet Software, Inc.
