[net.news.adm] PC Pursuit now much easier to use

gnu@hoptoad.uucp (John Gilmore) (07/01/86)

Telenet has recently expanded their "PC Pursuit" long-distance
data service to include more cities and to be accessible from any
Telenet dialin number.

This service provides unlimited calling between 6PM and 7AM for a flat rate
of $25/month. Data can be sent at 300 or 1200 baud and the connections
are 8-bit full duplex through Telenet's packet switching network.
Previously the service required calling them, hanging up, and having
them call you, to avoid fraud, but they have moved to a username/password
scheme, which makes it very easy to hack it into your L.sys file.

Currently you can dial in from any Telenet node, and dial out in 14
cities in the US, including Chicago (ihnp4), San Francisco (hoptoad),
Washington (seismo), Atlanta (gatech), etc.

Call Telenet at +1 800 368 4215 for more information or to sign up.
You can also call their bulletin board system at 1200 baud at +1 800 835 3001.
Hit return a lot until it talks to you.
