There is plenty of work showing that left and right
justification makes things more difficult to read.

Here in Reading we have a Typography Department where such

who is Dr Mary Dyson, Department of Typography, University of
Reading, Reading, Berkshire RG6 2AL. They also did work on
Prestel screens and the like.
