(...) I am posting this for a friend, but send replies to me, since he has no address. My friend received a small grant, with which he will purchase an IBM compatible PC for research purposes. The type of PC is not yet known (probably he'll go with the best deal he can get). He is now looking for experiment - control software. The experiments are standard for cognitive psychology: a trial in a typical experiment includes putting up a text stimulus, starting a timer (millisecond accuracy), and measuring a response latency. Because his budget is limited, he would prefer software that uses as much of the internal PC capabilities as possible: the PC video display for presentation, internal clock for timing, and keyboard for response collection. However, information about inexpensive hardware would also be appreciated. Ideally, he'd like something in the public domain: The author of the software would (of course) be acknowledged in any publications. More importantly, however: he may need access to the source code. Since the brand of PC is not known, he may have to modify some addresses, clock rates, etc. I considered posting this to net.pc, but thought I might get a faster response here. If you have any better ideas, please send them. Thanks (as they say) in advance. Brian Davidson AT&T-ISL Denver, CO ...{allegra!ihnp4}!druxv!bjd
