From: Mike Dean <mdean@bbn-clxx.arpa> Readers in the greater Boston area might be interested in hearing about New England SIGCHI, a new local chapter of the ACM Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction. The first two meetings have drawn 40-60 people, representing a wide variety of backgrounds and interests. The most recent included a demonstration of "Wizard of Oz" techniques for monitoring command language interactions, and a presentation by Prof. Raoul Smith of Northeastern on "Minimalist Intelligence". Upcoming meetings and events include: Dec 18, 7pm, Digital, 30 North Ave (off Fourth Avenue, past Burlington Mall), Burlington, MA. Informal holiday meeting including organizational issues and demonstrations by DEC's Educational Services R&D Group. Jan 7, Howard Johnson's, Newton. Joint meeting with the local Human Factors Society chapter. Charley Abernethy of DEC will speak on software standards. Dinner at 6pm; speaker at 8.
