After many years of faithful service my Universal Response Timer (Model 401A) has started sending out gibberish instead of timing information. The URT plugs into and camps on the RS-232 line between a terminal and a computer. It has a millisecond clock in it that is reset to zero every time a character is sent downlink from the computer to the terminal. Whenever a character is sent uplink from the terminal, the elapsed time in milliseconds since the last downlink character is appended to the character in the form "x,1234<CR>". I've been using it to get response latencies to terminal displays. The URT was manufactured by Polytronics (Methodist Hill-Lebanon, New Hampshire), but my initial attempts to contact the company have proved fruitless. Does anyone on the net know if the company still exists and if so how I might get in touch with them. I am interested in buying a new URT, or an equivalent replacement. Bob Warren cbosgd!rew
