[net.women.only] Radical feminists

rjnoe@ihlts.UUCP (Roger Noe) (09/22/83)

I am curious to find out what others believe a radical feminist is.
I've been characterized as being a radical feminist by a number of
people who've done substantial work in women's studies (formal and
informal), including my spouse. No one has ever defined radical
feminism very well for me and I would like to get others' ideas on
the definition. I haven't ever thought of using that particular
combination to describe my beliefs but that may just be because I
tend not to label myself at all. With a bit of coaxing I'll call
myself a secular humanist and historically I've been described as
a revolutionary feminist, which may or may not be the same as a
radical one. But I don't ever acknowledge being a white male; I may
acknowledge physical facts, but that does not mean I admit to thinking
or behaving as a stereotypical white male. I encourage your comments
both over this newsgroup and by mail. Thank you all.
