[net.micro.6809] Coco Keyboards and OS-9

knudsen@ihnss.UUCP (11/02/83)

A while back I porrmouthed the makers of aftermarket keyboards
for not including the []\ symbols in marking the keys. Well, they
were right. OS9 has not only moved these three from their original
Coco locations, OS9 even redefines some of the arrows -- right-arrow
now means "home and clear". Plus, we can now type all those great C
symbols {|~}. Any bets how soon somebody markets a keyboard upgrade
with keytops labeled for OS? How about an overlay (for us guys with
the old calculator-style keyboard -- one advantage of it)?

I wish OS9 had defined some control chars to agree with PDP-10 or CP/M
or UN*X or *something*. Oh well, I like their function for Control-C,
which switches a foreground job to background (presumably after you've
answered enuf of its prompts and verified that it opened its files OK,
etc). Can you do that on "real" UN*X? mike k
