[net.micro.6809] Summary: Coco replacement keyboards

mckay@princeton.UUCP (11/07/83)

A couple of weeks ago I asked for suggestions for a replacement keyboard for
my Coco. Here's what I got back:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
HJL-57 Keyboard

HJL Products, Inc.
955 Buffalo Road
P.O. Box 24954
Rochester, New York 14624

Although this is a new entry to the replacment keyboard market it comes with
a great recommendation. (Even including an offer to go see one, but alas I
have not yet figured out how to get there with out a car. Any suggestions
John?) It has four additional "function" keys, two on each side of the
space bar, one which locks. It is also rfi shielded.

The bottom line ====> $79.95 + shipping (Rainbow magizine ad.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mark Data Super-pro Keyboard

Mark Data Products
4001 Alicia Pkwy.
No. 207
Mission Viejo, CA 92691

The fellow who responed to me on this one has had it for about 6 months and
is very pleased. It's main features are ease of installation and a nice
"feel".

The bottom line ====> $69.95 + shipping (Rainbow magizine ad.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spectrum Projects Keyboard

Spectrum Projects
93-15 86th Drive
Woodhaven, NY 11421

This keyboard has been used for over a year by its reviewer and again he's
pleased with it. It has four "function" keys just like the HJL-57 but they
are placed around the "return" and "shift" keys on the right-hand side of
the keyboard. The clear key has been moved down to the left of the space
bar. One additional point, the ad I'm looking at says Spectrum Projects
supplies free software for redefining the keyboard, that could be quite nice.

The bottom line ====> $69.95 + shipping (Rainbow magizine ad.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm still not sure which of these I'll end up getting, but I'm leaning
towards the HJL-57, because it's layout looks nice. I hope this helped
those of you in search of something more then those &*$%# calculator buttons.
