. Howdy! Steve Childress here-- I'm new to this net, so please forgive errors of protocol and admonish freely! Here's a quick Bio for you OS9 fans... I've been into 6809's since about 1979, having started with a FLEX-9 on a SWTPCo "SS50" bus computer. Changed to OS9 (== Cheap Unix) in early '82. I admit to doing the port for the "Mill"-equipped Apple II (a 6809 co- processor board). The package is sold by Stellation Two in Santa Barbara, though it would be fair to say that the Apple/OS9 population now numbers in the hundreds, not thousands! My home system is a 64K OS9 SS50 machine with a 10MB Tandon, a 5MB Syquest Cartridge Winny, 5in & 8in Floppy, modem, and Epson & Diablo printers. Also have Apple II w/OS9 and a dusty, diskless Tandy Color Computer. This mismash has accumulated over the years and has overtaken the garage. I've used both the Introl Corp. and McCosh (Microware) C compilers, for those here that wish to swap notes. Also Omegasoft Pascal. For the fellow wanting an editor... There's a screen editor called "se" which is configurable for 80x24 CRT's or for the Tandy CoCo 50x24 screen. It's similiar to a small subset of vi. Contact Conejo Computer Products, 31220 La Baya Dr. Ste 110, Westlake Vlg, CA, 91362. Conejo has a bunch of OS9 goodies, eg, "ls", "cp", cheap macro assembler, etc. Other sources: "68 Micro Journal" (semi-magazine, monthly), 5900 Cassandra Smith Rd, Hixson, TN, 37433; 615-842-4600. In that mag are many ads. There is an OS9 User's Group which has low dues, distributes software at cost on disks, and has a bulletin board system (or two?). If anyone wants more info, please call Microware or mail query to me. A few questions: 1- Is Microware on this net? If so, what address? 2- Anyone have experience with OS9/68K? I've seen manuals but no hands on. 3- Anyone used Smoke Signal's cheap-o Regulus-based 68000 computer? 4- Any other net.* groups on 6809's? 68000's at < $8000? I have a few (zzz) OS9 programs which I'll donate to netters via this newsgroup or a dial-in to my home OS9 computer... any code-swappers out there? (Example: A modem program with auto-dial, phone book, & XMODEM protocol, in C). (No copyright violations, please... only unlicensed software!) Thanks for your attention! Hope to hear from some of you. Steve Childress Eaton IMS (..!wlbr!steve)
