[net.micro.6809] Using RS232 Pack on OS-9, Hint!

knudsen@ihwpt.UUCP (mike knudsen) (10/04/85)

When using the Radio Shack RS232 pack on OS-9
with their ACIAPAK driver (usually as /T2),
the Pak MUST be plugged into Slot ONE (nearest you)
of the Shack's Multi-Pak box. Slots 2 & 3 won't
talk to a modem. Jeff Rhodes & I verified this with
the Xcom9 terminal program (good stuff);
it may apply to the ACIAPAK in general.
So, if you're having trouble, check this 1st.

In return, could someone please tell me how to change
Buad rates on the Pack? I boot up with baud=3 (1200 Baud)
but when I do "xmode /t2 baud=1" to get 300 Baud,
when I restart Xcom9 I still have 1200 out of the Pak.
Must I re-init the Pak somehow? thank, mike k

I think you've mixed up the xmode
and tmode commands. Xmode is for
making permanent changes, while tmode
is to make changes for the current
session. To change speeds while you're
working use tmode. If you want to
change the default speed, then use
xmode and 'cobbler' a new disk. After
'cobbler'ing, use
verify u <os9boot >temp
del os9boot
copy temp os9boot

If you are using standard RS OS-9
disks then this much will do it.
