The Shack has announced on CIS that there will be a new version of
OS-9 available next month. There was a fair bit of information, but I
don't have it with me right now. The most significant points for me
were:
1. Fully reconfigurable RS-232 (t2) real-time (baud rates, parity etc.)
2. Partly reconfigurable t1
3. Separation of CCIO functions
3. 80 column card descriptor/driver (means the Shack's bringing out a card!)
4. hard disk descriptor/driver (means ... !)
5. Memory de-allocation has been cleaned up.
6. 'help' command.
7. Many functions now reconfigure output to match screen parameters (eg. 'dir')
$25.00 US. for 2 new disks as upgrade package.
All the new OS-9's sold thereafter will be 2.00.00
There was more info too. Many newer software packages will need this
version to run.
Cheers! -- Jim O.
