Some time ago, I posted a message proposing the creation of mod.os9 and volunteering to moderate the group. I asked for comments from the net backbone managers and OS-9 devotees on the desirability of a moderated OS-9 newsgroup. There were only 11 responses, even counting postings that weren't obviously a follow-up to mine. Only three of the responses were in the form of electronic mail addressed to me. In summary: 3 wanted the creation of a moderated group. 3 said moderation is OK, but do create a new group. 1 said create a net group, not a moderated one. 2 said keep the discussion in net.micro.{6809,68k}. 1 said this traffic belongs in info-68k. 1 said create mod.os.* 7 flames and responses to flames were discarded. 0 comments were received from the backbone managers This isn't enough response to justify even the creation of a mailing list! If and when there is enough demand, my offer to moderate an OS-9 group remains open. Alex Arthur (aca@nyit) has offered to serve as back-up moderator whenever I am away. Until such a group can be created, I suggest you subscribe to info-68k (yes you CAN get it if you are not an ARPA site), and filter out the processor-specific articles. Send mail to ucbvax!info-68k-requests with a few different flavors of your mail address and Mike will get you on the list. 6809 and CoCo traffic should be posted to net.micro.6809 . I'm going to wait and see if the backbone administrators work out a new policy for the discussion of operating systems (I'm for mod.os.*), and then I'll reinitiate the request for a moderated OS-9 group. If you'd like to help, please MAIL your comments.
